About

The Petaluma Historical Library & Museum Archive is dedicated to sharing the vast collection of photographs, documents, and artifacts it owns.

Funded by a grant from the office of Supervisor David Rabbitt and the Sonoma County Supervisors, a dedicated staff has been digitizing the collection and creating this website in the hopes that the community can deepen their knowledge and further their appreciation for this historic town. As we continue to receive new donations that contribute to the story of Petaluma, we will continue to share them with you.

This website is dedicated to the following individuals:

Hoppy Hopkins, who helped get the museum’s collections of local artifacts and photos.

Lucy Kortum, who volunteered for over three decades in the research library and established the Petaluma Historical Library & Museum on the National Register of Historic Landmarks.

Ed Mannion, who saved thousands of negatives from being thrown away and secured photos and artifacts for the museum’s collections.

Ed Fratini, who donated an endless amount of photographs, journals, and artifacts which the museum still utilizes today.

Althea Torliatt, who helped develop the educational criteria for school tours.
